Introducing Pearl Country Store & Barbecue

Welcome to Pearl Country Store & Barbecue, your destination for authentic backwoods barbecue nestled in the heart of historic Micanopy, Florida. Located at 106 NE Hwy 441 A, this charming establishment combines the quaintness of a country store with the rich, mouthwatering flavors of Southern barbecue.

As you approach the store, you may not expect the culinary treasures that await inside. Diners from all over return to rave about their experiences, drawn not only by the tantalizing aroma of smoked meats but by the welcoming atmosphere. Guests like Ryan Catena have praised the restaurant’s brisket and ribs, claiming that they are among the best he’s ever had. Families take delight in classic dishes such as mac and cheese and banana pudding, making it a perfect spot for gathering.

The appeal of Pearl lies not just in its food but in its history. Valerie Awad describes it as a hidden gem, located next to a gas station yet bustling with patrons. The charm continues with its nostalgic diner setup, where friends and families can enjoy convivial meals together. Signature items include the sweet pork barbecue sandwiches and sweet potato fries, with the fries often receiving high praise for their unique brown sugar cinnamon coating.

The menu doesn’t stop with sandwiches. Regulars like Sue Bruckner marvel at their fried chicken and sides, with the chicken deemed melt-in-your-mouth tender—a strong recommendation for any fried chicken lover. For the true BBQ aficionado, you can have a full rack of ribs or juicy brisket. Many customers, including Dustin Mollenkopf, have noted generous portions and affordability—a rarity in today’s dining scene.

It's not unusual for diners to find the ribs practically falling off the bone, and each bite of brisket—a favorite of many—leaves a lasting impression. Net Bridgman recalls how her brisket sandwich made her "dance" with joy, a testament to the unforgettable flavors crafted by the kitchen.

Whether you're planning a leisurely lunch or a hearty dinner, Pearl Country Store & Barbecue invites you to experience a true taste of Florida barbecue. Each dish comes served with a side of nostalgia, bringing customers back for seconds, thirds, and more. Best authentic backwoods Florida BBQ! Ordered the mixed vegetables, brisket and beans, it was delicious! Wife also had the brisket, kids had ribs, mac and cheese, grilled ham and cheese sandwich, and banana pudding. They loved it! Great experience eating in the diner at the back of this old store. Can wait to return again. The historical town of Micanopy is a must see!

Spending the day up in Micanopy, searching for a great place to eat lunch up here and this was suggested to me by the people at the City Antique Mall.. it’s located as a store and a gas station but oh my gosh, everybody around here knows about this place!! While I was here at lunch it got packed; . It’s not just a general store. They have a small lunch counter and nine tables inside and more tables outside. I ended up with the “small” pork barbecue sandwich with baked beans and sweet potato fries. if you’d like sweet baked beans, do not pass these up and the sweet potato fries were coated in a brown sugar cinnamon and were so tender.. had to take half of it with me. Gotta try this place. It’s delicious, looking forward to more trips for the ribs and brisket I hear they’re awesome too

Great BBQ. Most BBQ overcharge for smaller portions, not this place! Friendly service, and awesome food. The coleslaw was vinegar based, and unlike any I had ever had before. 10/10

Best Barbecue in Florida and you’d never know it driving by. Consistently delicious and friendly-ish service. The ribs are top tier and their house sauces have great flavor. We stop any time we are passing by on I-75.

If Google hadn't sent me this thing about Micanopy Florida, I never would have found Pearl country store and the wonderful food here. I got the jumbo brisket sandwich and french fries. My husband got the combo two ribs and beef brisket with potato salad and mac and cheese. The ribs literally fell off the bone that's how great they were. He said the mac and cheese was super cheesy. And my brisket sandwich actually made me kind of dance. This food was wonderful. Fully fully recommend.

Awesome BBQ! Stopped here a few years ago, had to see if it was just as yummy. Was not disappointed! Grabbed a rack of ribs, some brisket and a few sides on our way to the Panhandle, and had to get more for the way home the next week. Only regret is they're not closer to us.
